What is Social Norming? 
Social norming is the process by which we norm students to actual college student behavior, as opposed to the stereotyped image. 

How do you get the information? 
Every three years a survey is randomly given to students at Frostburg State University. It is taken anonymously and students are encouraged to be honest.  

How current is the information displayed? 
The survey was last administered Spring 2009.   The statistics on this page are the results of that survey.  Our next survey will be administered Spring 2012

• 77% of FSU students drink once a week or less or not at all
• 76% of FSU students have not used marijuana in the past year
• 96% of FSU students have not used cocaine in the past year
• 88% of FSU students prefer parties to be drug-free
• 82% of FSU students feel it’s ok NOT to drink alcohol at parties
• 89% of FSU students never been in trouble with the police, resident halls, or other college officials
• 94% of FSU students buckle up always or most of the time
• 63% of FSU students have never smoked tobacco in the past year
• 96% of FSU students have never sedatives in the past year
• 96% of FSU students have never used hallucinogens in the past year
• 98% of FSU students have never used heroin in the past year
• 99% of FSU students have never used inhalants in the past year

• 81% of FSU students never performed poorly on a test or a project due to drinking and drugging  
• 96% of FSU students have never damaged property due to drinking and drugging
• 67% of FSU students have never gotten into a fight due to drinking and drugging
• 78% of FSU students have never driven a car while under the influence
• 61% of FSU students did not experience hangover this past year
• 76% of FSU students have never missed a class due to drinking and drugging
• 71% of FSU students have never criticized by someone they knew due to drinking and drugging
• 68% of FSU students have never experienced a memory loss due to drinking and drugging
• 69% of FSU students have never done something they regretted due to drinking and drugging
• 98% of FSU students have never been arrested for DWI/DUI
• 82% of FSU students often or always use a designated driver when they party
• 98% of FSU students have never taken advantage of another student sexually
• 80% of FSU students prefer to date someone who does not binge drink
• 82% of FSU students choose to attend Frostburg for academics
• 83% of FSU students believe it is ok not to drink alcohol while attending a party
• 72% of FSU students have seen out social marketing messages
• 87% of FSU students agree with the statement “healthy majority message”
• 64% of FSU students would support Frostburg State becoming a Smoke Free tobacco campus
• 82% of FSU students prefer to date a person who does not smoke
